Not much for words these days. Just letting the flowers speak for themselves. I have some more detailed posts in the works but just trying to find the time to get it all done. Fall is a busy time with flowers. This is the first event free weekend in a while. The sun is shining and the garden is much in need of an overdue fall breakdown. With the cold settling in there are few days left to work in the garden so I better take advantage and hightail it outdoors.
We are now selling local bouquets through Good Eggs Brooklyn. Good Eggs is an online marketplace featuring food and items grown or made in the New York area. We are super excited to work with them! We source the flowers from local farms as well as the Pretty Streets garden. Here are some pics from recent orders.
Today is the longest day of the year. The start of summer and I am already missing spring. The flowers have been out of control. So gorgeous!
As a gardener, I am always in awe of the beauty of spring but feel a bit of anxiety about getting everything pruned, prepped and planted on time. It never all seems to get done at the exact moment everything was supposed to happen. We built a sweet pea teepee this year. I could hardly keep myself from telling strangers about it a month ago. Now I realize I planted it a bit too late and bit too far in the afternoon shade. However, it has grown and now the peas have almost reached the top and are starting to flower. It is maybe not as full and flowering as it could be but it is just perfect for this year. Every year I learn so much more. Next year it will be perfect and planted right on time. Maybe.
Here are some images from the Mother’s Day flower stand. It was great being back on the street pedaling bouquets again! We were back at it the next week and once again everything went really well and it was so nice to see so many familiar faces. The only problem we keep having are these late spring showers. Yeah, it’s great for the garden but it is really cutting into some of our planned flower stand days. We will just have to wait for it to pass. If the sun is out look for us outside The Bedford Cheese Shop on Saturdays and outside Allswell on Sundays, both days 10-2-more or less. Hope to see you there!
